Most recent winners of this have been well backed and the market should be a good guide again. Richard Hannon’s stable has been responsible for three of the last 10 winners and the yard has four runners this year. There is no doubt that impressive Newmarket winner Tangled, ridden by Ryan Moore, is their chief hope, though Billesdon Brook was only beaten a head in a Listed race over 7f at Sandown last month. Mark Johnson, who trained the winner in 2014 and again last year, saddles three including the unbeaten Poetic Steps and Ayr winner Poet's Prince, though the latter might be hampered by a high draw. VEEJAY is also unbeaten and he defied a penalty to beat subsequent winner Al Barg at Haydock last time. Mick Channon had the winner of this in 2015 and his Approve colt still has scope for further improvement. Jedi Master should relish the step up in distance and is another to consider.
