Verdict

Spanish John showed his appreciation for a step up in trip when beating Savannah Bay (3lb better for a length and a quarter) in Listed company over a mile and seven furlongs at Newmarket's July meeting. It should be close between the pair but both may have to give best to First Charter. Sir Michael Stoute's charge has not been disgraced in better company at Royal Ascot and here behind the high class Bandari earlier in the month. A reproduction of the form may suffice on these favourable terms against inferior opposition.
