Algometer earned top rating with a fine run behind the high-class Hawkbill in a Newmarket Group 2 last June though he hasn't been seen since the following month when well beaten here. Autocratic beat him just over a length in a Sandown Group 3 a year ago and the runner-up is 3lb better off so there's nothing between them. The 2016 Cambridgeshire winner Spark Plug progressed to win a Listed contest last summer and though First Sitting was well beaten on his reappearance at Sandown he didn't enjoy the sticky going. With the ground surprisingly on the soft side, WHAT ABOUT CARLO (NAP) has his conditions and was conceding 8lb to the winner when beaten a short-head at this level here in September so looks the one to be on.
