Verdict

CHIRICO VALLIS cost a mammoth 355,000 euros after a couple of runs in France but, though making an encouraging start for Gordon Elliott, he's been beaten when short odds in big fields at Navan and Fairyhouse. He should do better when tackling fences, though this should be within his capabilities. His stable also run Swordfight, a winner on the Flat for David Wachman, though he'll need massive improvement from a poor opener at Wexford. Lachares looks the obvious threat after a fine run behind Dandy Mag here last month where he looked ideally suited by the testing ground. Mickey Flanagan may prove best of the remainder as he was well supported on his racecourse debut in a Limerick bumper.
