    Verdict

The maiden Tugalu is the selection to land the opener with first time blinkers on today. Twice raced on the all-weather, those runs yielded runner-up positions although he was beaten at short odds on his last start on the artificial surface. He has been disappointing of late over six furlongs where the trip appears to be stretching his stamina and back to five furlongs should be more to his liking. Hurricane Harriet broke her maiden duck last time in what was a very moderate handicap for maidens run on rain softened ground. A half-sister to the former smart race mare Katy Nowaitee, the family are all winners over trips in around a mile and though her only attempt at five furlongs was only on her second start, this drop back to five is not entirely certain to suit. Linnet Park has dropped down the ratings and has shown some promise throughout her career although she was well beaten in a selling handicap last time. Enodoc has slipped down the ratings and didn't appear to stay the six furlong trip at Brighton last time. He was a winner at Brighton over this trip four starts back and his rider takes off a very useful 5lb. Captain Kir is unexposed but has shown very little in three outings in maiden company while Young Ivanhoe's best form is on the all-weather but he will need to improve on his recent runs to figure. Tugalu is the selection to land the opener.
