In depth

Verdict

AZURE MIST is the most likely winner on paper but he faces strong opposition on the track from Comrade Cotton and King's Colour. It took 18 attempts for Mark Tompkins charge to get off the mark but he did so in emphatic style at Wolverhampton having made all from trap to wire. There is obvious pace elsewhere but it is to be hoped that the winning habit is one that has been learnt and acted upon accordingly. Comrade Cotton kept on well at Lingfield to chase home Cavalry Guard. The form, although moderate, looks respectable in relation to today's contest. King's Colour has ran respectably at Kempton on his two starts there but it remains to be seen as to whether he can perform as well going the other way around. Wahoo Sam used to be a very successful front runner but his form figures tell you all you need to know these days. Bury Treasure is in first time cheekpieces whilst Lady Aspen and Lopinot come to the race off the back of some moderate work on the track. A poor race that can go the way of Azure Mist.
