In depth

Verdict

Sweet Smile makes plenty of appeal in this nursery despite having to concede weight to all of his rivals. Veronicas Boy has claims back up in trip but may not want the ground to dry out too much which is also true of Raimond Ridge whose three runs have all been with cut in the ground. Carmanjoe has twice run well at Southwell but disappointed on fast ground at Nottingham so underfoot conditions could play a crucial role in the outcome of this event. Johnmanderville bumped into a good one last time, should improve for the longer trip and handle the ground so he has to rate a big danger whilst Elaine's Folly won her maiden claimer well enough to be considered. The selection ran respectably in a decent Haydock maiden on debut before running on well to beat some useful sorts in a soft ground contest at Ripon. The yard did fairly well with his full brother last season who handled fast ground well so conditions should prove to be no problem and Sweet Smile looks capable of landing this before going on to better things.
