In depth

Verdict

Deep Winter will be a warm order here and is difficult to oppose. The consistent Jollyhockeysticks and Johnny Friendly may contest the runner-up's berth. Richard Fahey's charge shaped with considerable promise on debut but didn't really build on that in two subsequent outings. It was a different story for her handicap bow at Great Leighs where she was stepped up to a mile and she came through with a strong late run to win with something to spare. It will be disappointing if she can't defy her penalty here. Jollyhockeysticks has been given a chance by the handicapper and may be able to win a race before long but Johnny Friendly could emerge as a bigger danger if he can translate his all-weather form to grass. There's every chance that he will be able to do so and a mile should be within his compass. Casino Night is back down to the mark from which she won in March and the majority are relatively unexposed but Richard Fahey looks to have found an excellent opportunity for Deep Winter.
