In depth

Verdict

The three-year-olds outnumber the older horses in this but it might be the latter group who hold sway in a tight handicap. Xcelente was much better at Ayr following a pipe-opener and Jump The Gun was third here last month before finishing a close-up sixth at Carlisle. BREGUET BOY has been racing over longer trips but won over course and distance in September when a pound higher so gets the nod. Dark Company should have come on a bundle from his return to action at Nottingham and is preferred to Celtic Empress and Grantley of the others.
