In depth

Verdict

Rancho Cucamonga has enjoyed a fine season and gets the nod to continue in the same vein, with Whoopee, Dematraf and Our Mary others to consider. The selection has is at the top of the list for this apprentice handicap due to his consistency in races over this trip, and he has really come back to form in the past month in particular, beating Paddywack over c&d here and not being far away since then. Trip and ground are to his liking and he can put up another bold showing. Whoopee receives 8lb from the selection and has been brought along patiently by Mark Johnston. Although he has shown only glimpses of ability, this drop in class will certainly help and we should watch the market. Dematraf loves 6f and fast ground so has the right sort of credentials for this, though a 1lb rise for finishing second last time will not make winning much easier, while Our Mary has her conditions but looks more likely to prosper in lower grades than this and is opposed with Rancho Cucamonga, who should have the edge here.
