In depth

Verdict

COLONEL MAK has been a credit to connections and it looks as if David Barron's admirable campaigner has scared off much of the opposition for this conditions event. The five-year-old ran right up to his best at Newmarket when third in a decent handicap in May, and though he disappointed in the Wokingham, his BHA rating does makes life difficult for him in such races. Muaamara has been highly tried but she is a far from forlorn hope. A winner over six furlongs, there is no shortage of ability in her pedigree and she has shown an aptitude for the going. Victoire De Lyphar gave his connections some highly lucrative days during 2010 though David Nicholls' sprinter has struggled to recapture those heights since and may be best watched.
