Verdict

CAPTAIN CAT won this last year by one and a half lengths from Balty Boys and was Roger Charlton's third winner in five years. The runner-up has been in better form subsequently though the winner looks to have been primed for another crack and is handed the vote. Ivawood's placed efforts in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket and the Curragh are the stand-out pieces of form and, though he hasn't distinguished himself in his two latest starts, he's definitely better than that. Moohaarib beat Hors De Combat just over a length in a Listed contest at Ascot in April but is another who hasn't done as well as expected so the runner-up can take his revenge.
