Verdict

Apart from the maiden Superboot, none of the field made the frame last time and a degree of caution is advised. Masamah definitely sets the standard though and is excused being unplaced in his latest effort as it came in the Group 2 Temple Stakes at this venue when four lengths off the winner, Kingsgate Native. His profile last term features respectable efforts against the likes of Sole Power, Borderlescott, Ortensia and Bated Breath so this is a decent opportunity identified by Marco Botti. However, he's a real speedball who usually blasts from the gate and 5f looks his optimum trip. He'll probably be good enough over this longer trip but we'll take a chance with LOUIS THE PIOUS. He's well behind Masamah on official ratings but has gone well on both starts this term in highly-competitive sprint handicaps for David O'Meara and is a value option over 6f.
