Verdict

In what looks a virtual match, Mighty Fine is selected to gain the day over One Five Eight. Edna Slack's charge has only ever won at Sedgefield but has performed with credit here in the past and is much better treated over timber than fences. He proved that point when scoring easily three weeks ago and although he will no doubt go back over fences shortly, he can make the most of what is still a lenient mark over hurdles. He has to give seven pounds away to One Five Eight who is in form, having picked up a couple of bumpers this season. However, he lacks the experience of the selection on what is his debut over hurdles. Mick Easterby's four-year-old will no doubt pick up his fair share of races on the northern circuit, but for now will have to give best to the older and wiser Mighty Fine.
