Verdict

A very moderate contest where there is little in the way of winning form on the CVs of those taking part, but we will go with one who has that, in THENAMEESCAPESME, while Nicky Tam and Reckless Venture may get competitive. The last-named has earned his only two career wins at this track, both over 2m 5f. Nevertheless he has gone well in defeat over course and distance and although he hasn't won on a sound surface he did go well on it here in May and is respected in such a poor affair. Nicky Tam stays this far but is a bit of a slowcoach in handicaps. This is a little easier, however, and he can get closer. Treehouse is 5lbs higher than when winning over course and distance in April and there is no reason why he can be involved again at the business end with the ground to suit, while Kirksidepleasure has now dropped to a very handy mark again and if the rains came would be very interesting. The selection, though, is Thenameescapesme. Kim Bailey's charge relishes a sound surface, and his pedigree suggests that stamina over this far should not be an issue, although he does have to prove that on the track. He comes here in good form as a last-time winner, and with few queuing up in opposition we'll take him to repeat the dose.
