In depth

Verdict

ROBBERS GLEN can take the hunter chase, with Senora Moss suggested as his most serious danger. The latter has scored over course and distance, when doing so easily in May of last year, and all four of her runs under rules have been at this venue, so she knows it well. She looks capable of running well again, although the very soft ground might find her out. Natiain has plummeted in the weights, having been good enough to win when pitched at 121 in a marathon hunters' contest at Perth a couple of seasons ago. Heavy ground suits and if he retains any ability after a 10-month absence then he could go well. Dix Villez won one of Cheltenham's cross-country chases last season when the ground was soft, but he has shown no sort of form since and cannot be backed with confidence. Preference then is for Robbers Glen. The 10-year-old has two course and distance wins to his name and loves cut in the ground. Unlike so many we have mentioned, he comes here in good recent form with a Wetherby win already under his belt this month, and the manner of that victory suggests that there is more to come today.
