Verdict

On paper this does not look a strong bumper for the mares and we will take the chance that TIMARELLO is up to the task on debut, while Miss Abbey is likely to make a bold bid to defy a penalty. The selection hails from the in-form yard of Keith Reveley, and comes from good National Hunt stock, with Supreme Leader on her dam's side suggesting that today's conditions will be ideal. She is likely to be straight enough and the trainer doesn't bring his bumper runners here unless he feels they have a chance, so we will take the hint. Miss Abbey is not dismissed lightly. Jim Goldie's six-year-old kept on well to spring a 20/1 surprise on her Musselburgh debut, when the ground was good. She has to prove herself in today's conditions and the extra 7lbs might take their toll with that in mind. Hannah Jacques has a soft ground pedigree and represents a yard that does well in this sphere, so is respected, while Identity Parade is another bred for stamina and is also likely to act on the ground, with some Roselier involved on his dam's side. Given his trainer's record with the mares he sends to the racecourse we should check out the market for clues, though preference is for Timarello.
