In depth

Verdict

MAOI CHINN TIRE is narrowly preferred here to Italian Tom and Coolree Star. Stan Moore's gelding has been holding his form well of late, including when winning at Lingfield last month. The weights of this claimer give him every chance and having run well here before he should give backers a good run for their money. Petrocelli has a first run of the season today and although he looks flattered by his official rating, the booking of Shane Kelly catches the eye. Reach For The Sky is nicely-bred and drops in grade, however a bigger threat may be Chandrayaan who knows how to win. Penrod Ballantyne has shown glimpses of promise in three maiden runs, however Italian Tom and Coolree Star are more battle-hardened. The former is arguably better at five furlongs however, and the latter is consistent without winning, so we are happy to stick with Maoi Chinn Tire as the selection.
