SHAMIR is a confident choice in this maiden; the list of dangers is headed by Feeling Fragile and Prince Of Sorrento. Jo Crowley's colt has three times gone close on the all-weather and he failed to capitalise on what looked a good opportunity at Lingfield last month when he failed to get home. This drop in trip is therefore a big plus and he can open his account. Feeling Fragile would have claims on the form of his run at Wolverhampton back in October, but he disappointed at the same track last time when he failed to settle and ran out of steam. Prince Of Sorrento shaped with promise on his debut at Lingfield last month and this extra furlong should play to his strengths. There are some interesting newcomers here including Avida Dollars and Explorator, so a watching brief on the market is advised. However, a decent case can be made for Shamir and he gets the pick.
