Verdict

Despite returning from a lay-off, Hawawi was well backed for a maiden over 1m3f here on his reappearance. He should find a small race soon but this looks a decent handicap with George Guru bidding to go one better than when runner-up to Maverik over C&D last month and course specialist Den's Gift seeking to build on his third to Marajaa at Lingfield. Opus Maximus is capable of playing a part if getting the run of the race but it must be significant that VIVA RONALDO is Richard Fahey's only runner at the meeting. The northern raider can follow up his Wolverhampton win with Shane B Kelly again taking off 5lb. Dunhoy still has some scope but may need this.
