    Verdict

Irony, Material Witness and Nor'Wester are the three to consider here and Material Witness is taken to go one better after a good run to be second at Goodwood. Derby winning jockey Martin Dwyer is on board and although this son of Barathea has not won for almost two years he has been dropped in the handicap and indicated a win would not be a surprise when running his best race for some time at the Sussex track. Irony has not won since last July but shaped well on his two recent starts, hitting the frame on both occasions. However, he hails from the Andrew Balding yard which is simply not firing and he is passed over. Nor'Wester has not been out for a year but hails from the in form Fanshawe yard and must be respected. He was well backed when finishing second on his last run and any market move should be heeded.
