In depth

Verdict

Bumper winner TOP OF THE RANGE made a winning debut over timber before being well beaten in the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury. He was expected to bounce back at Sandown in February but disappointed when only third to Claret Cloak, though the trip looked much too short. This should be just what he requires and he has the ability to concede weight all round. Fighting Flynn looks a big threat as his recent close third behind Goulanes at Newbury was a fair effort while Ruling Party will probably have more to give in the future, though his overall form doesn't look quite good enough. The Last Night is another for the future though he'll need to jump better than on his two runs to date.
