In depth

Verdict

A moderate claimer gets proceedings underway and from a shortlist of BROMHEAD, Hold The Bucks and Bartica we will side with Bromhead. Brian Meehan's three-year-old already has one win to his name and he was far from disgraced when fourth behind Common Diva. He is dropped in trip today which will not be a problem and with Ryan Moore doing the steering he can get his head in front. Hold The Bucks looks the biggest danger as he has a good draw and he has gone well here in the past. However, he is thoroughly exposed compared to our selection and for that reason he is taken on. Bartica won well last time but he hung left that day so it remains to be seen if this right-handed track will play to his strengths; he has disappointed on his two previous runs here. Daily Double will be suited by the drop in trip but he has a wide draw which will make life tough. There is plenty to recommend Bromhead who gets the vote.
