        Verdict

        SOFTLY SHE TREADS won with plenty to spare over course and distance last time and may defy an 8lb hike in the weights. Gracefilly and Fair Comment went close on their latest starts over shorter trips at Wolverhampton and Lingfield respectively while both Maison Brillet and Thane Of Cawdor were both narrowly beaten over 1m4f recently. The latter makes most appeal of that group having won three times over course and distance. Eastward Ho has been thereabouts of late but has something to prove over this longer distance.
