In depth

Verdict

This has attracted a big field and sees NOWURHURLIN attempt to improve on last year's third place. He had a recent pipe-opener at Musselburgh so gets the nod though a number of these can boast decent form under Rules including Wings Of Smoke, who won a handicap at Taunton as recently as January. Tony Star won’t be far away if fully wound-up and Midnight Appeal could bounce back to form at any time. Night Alliance won at Ffos Las last month while Robbie scored by 10 lengths between the flags at Duncombe Park and could be a useful recruit to the hunter chase ranks. Soft ground probably isn't ideal for Twirling Magnet but he finished sixth in last year's Fox Hunters' Chase at Aintree, in which Warne and Ockey De Neulliac both fell, and should give a good account.
