Verdict

John Best's Orsett Lad only just did enough when successful here last month and he may struggle to follow up off a 5lb higher mark in a race taken to go to KHANIVOROUS, who gets the verdict ahead of Pastel Blue. Michael Bell's filly was beaten off the same mark that she races off today on her only previous start in a handicap here over a mile in August but she won well on her first start since then when landing a maiden over course and distance last month and may now be well treated. Julia Feilden's Rathbawn Girl was well beaten on her handicap debut at Kempton last month and she is likely to find this tough off the same mark today, while Roger Charlton's Fusaichi Flyer has had three starts in maidens at Wolverhampton and does not seem to be that well treated on his first start here in a handicap, even off a mark as low as 66. The vote then goes the way of Jim Boyle's Khanivorous, who is another that is relatively unexposed and ran well off the same mark that he races off today when narrowly beaten by Highland Quaich at Kempton.
