In depth

Verdict

Atlantic Story is preferred to Evident Pride and Vainglory. Two rapidly progressive horses head the weights here and, in many respects, Evident Pride has the stronger form claims. Brett Johnson's charge has been making steady progress through the ranks and has won his last two starts at this trip, including one over course and distance. In contrast, Atlantic Story's winning spree has come over a mile and he's come up short on three previous runs at around this trip. However, he's a different horse now and has won eight of his ten all-weather starts. He could still be ahead of the game and has a blistering turn of foot which could prove crucial. Fusili can be relied upon to run her race but is thoroughly exposed and of more interest is the lightly raced Vainglory. That said, he does need to improve if he's to trouble the two principals and Atlantic Story is preferred.
