In depth

Verdict

UNCLE FRED made a very satisfactory second outing at Kempton recently in what appeared quite a decent maiden and he can build on the promise he showed there and land this for the Patrick Chamings yard who are enjoying a good run at present. Briefly out-paced when pace was injected at Kempton, he ran right to the line there, closing on the front two as the line approached. While some of his rivals have showed glimmers of promise in outings, they will need to improve to beat the selection. Party Frock was strongly supported to win a Newbury maiden on debut, finishing second in the process. The winner has since been beaten off 68 in a nursery. Pension Policy hails from a yard who¿s charges do progress and while excuses can be made for his lacklustre effort at Lingfield last week as he stumbled on exiting the stalls, he qualifies for a handicap mark following this and that is where he is likely to be more competitive. Gold Again has 3 1/2 lengths to find on Uncle Fred on their running at Kempton. Walter Swinburn's filly was held up in that contest and never competitive and one suspects she might have more to offer today. James Pollard is another that contested that Kempton event. A big burley colt that has clearly been slow to learn, he is bred to come into his own over trips in excess of a mile and is another that should be competitive in handicaps. Market support for Godolphin's newcomer Mutheeb should be noted but Uncle Fred can land it.
