Verdict

The application of headgear on JEER could make all the difference and he can take the measure of Sircozy and Maslak. Mick Easterby's charge was well backed at Kempton when previously tried in blinkers and may have simply been unfortunate to find a hot race to take his chance. James Sullivan seems a promising apprentice in the plate. Sircozy bids for three on the spin. Following a victory over a seemingly inadequate nine furlongs at Wolverhampton, he comfortably obliged here and has just a 6lb rise to defy. Maslak is always dangerous under an uncontested lead. He ran another solid race at Southwell but this looks tougher hence why Toby Atkinson has been brought in in an attempt to lose a little of the weight. Black N Brew is something of an imponderable over the trip. The way in which he ran on over ten furlongs suggests it is entirely plausible that he will stay. Quince's consistency gives the handicapper no room to drop him down the weights so a place looks the best hope today. Taste The Wine was in particularly good order in the middle of summer though failed to progress. He ran a creditable reappearance over course-and-distance earlier in the month and would be favoured if this race develops into a test of stamina rather than speed. Many chances held in this affair and we are hopeful that the blinkers can work the oracle on Jeer.
