In depth

Verdict

A race where the betting market could be an active place to be with Prize Fighter, Spaced and Master Joseph standing out as the first three to watch out for when the activities begin in earnest. The first named represents a trainer more than capable of getting one ready for a race of this nature and is therefore handed the selection today. Spaced, on the other hand, will be dangerous to dismiss as he was not given a hard time on his debut and there should be more to come from this son of Indian Rocket, who has a valuable edge in terms of experience today. Master Joseph looked to be in need of at least this sort of trip on his latest start and a better effort is anticipated from him now. Even so, his future looks to lay in handicaps and he may need a little more time. Not many of the rest with a previous run have done enough to merit more than passing interest; with Lady Chef heading the list of dangers. However, Peter Chapple-Hyam has been hitting the post with his two-year-old's this season and will no doubt be keen to redress the balance with Prize Fighter tonight. Therefore, it can be considered significant that this Derby entry is being introduced in a weak race like this and he will not need to be anything out of the ordinary to get off the mark at first time of asking in this company.
