In depth

Verdict

Border Music comes into this in good form but a penalty and the drop, for the first time, to the minimum trip makes Andrew Balding's gelding difficult to recommend and preference is for Maltese Falcon, who gets the vote ahead of King Orchisios. The last mentioned showed improved form when making a winning return here last month and, with more improvement to come, he has to be respected. Bonus is capable but needs to improve to trouble the judge, while Strike Up The Band has yet to prove his effectiveness on this surface and may be best watched. Excusez Moi has similarly yet to prove that he can match turf form on the all-weather and a safer option looks to be Maltese Falcon, who has lost no caste in defeat in his last three starts and deserves to get his head in front.
