ART SUMMER gets the nod in this ordinary maiden auction stakes. Flapjack has to be respected, while Diamond Affair and Excelling make some appeal from the others. Excelling wasn't knocked about on her debut and may be a lot better than the bare form suggests. A daughter of Exceed And Excel, her pedigree is a mixture of speed and stamina, so it would be fair to say she may need more time. However, she is one to keep in the notebook and monitor whatever happens. Diamond Affair has hinted at ability and, having been strongly backed last time out; the market will be a good indicator as to whether her connections expect to recoup some of the loses tonight. Another furlong may suit her before too long, though. Flapjack represents the might of Richard Hannon and is set to be partnered by Hayley Turner. The UK's leading female jockey is a rare booking for Hannon but having won on two of her previous 11 rides for the yard; the move is interesting enough to consider for a speculative punt. However, Art Summer also has very little to find on the form of her debut at Chester and, as such, the David Simcock-trained filly is taken as the preferred option now she races on a more conventional track.
