In depth

Verdict

Garri Rua did well to score at the Galway Festival and though that was on good ground he won again here on Thursday in testing going so has to be respected despite a penalty. Winning point-to-pointer Ash Rowe has been going well over timber though had been beaten from much lower marks than this in handicaps before landing a Wexford maiden. BLACKTHORN PRINCE, another who has won between the flags, was carrying a big weight when landing a minor handicap over timber at Ballinrobe and is 9lb higher but he won convincingly and looks the type to follow. A Decent Excuse is on a much lower mark than over fences but failed to take advantage at Cork last time while Kara Loca hasn't run over hurdles since scoring at Ballinrobe a year ago though the latter could provide the main threat.
