Verdict

A well-contested affair, despite the small field. Paddys Runner won twice last season and ran at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Forest Bihan kept good company for most of last season but struggles to get his head in front. It's two years since L'aigle Royal last won and he's become disappointing but Dovils Date has won at Southwell and Uttoxeter recently, though was only fourth off his new mark at Worcester. CARD GAME won three times between January and April. He hasn't raced since second off a 3lb lower mark at Warwick in May but gets on well with claimer Jamie Hamilton so is given a tentative vote.
