Verdict

SENOR SHANE idled when he hit the front when winning recently at Plumpton and is taken to follow up here under a 5lb rise in the weights; onto the shortlist go Abbey Minster and Well Saved. The selection looks a chaser in the making but that will have to wait till next season. He was well-backed when winning earlier this month and adaptable as to regards the ground, he looks sure to run well. There should be a decent pace on here which will also suit Well Saved. He races prominently anyway but dropping in trip today he will be looking to make this a true test for some of the shorter runners. Abbey Minster is unexposed and put in a much improved performance last time on his handicap debut at Newcastle. The form of that run behind Finbin reads well and if there is no rain then he needs strong consideration. The form figures of plenty of these read for fairly scary reading, but if we go back far enough then we see that top-weight Bennynthejets was a game Catterick winner in 2007 and is starting to edge down the weights. Winged Arrow ran fairly well last time, whilst Albert Park and Robin Des Bank are both fairly unexposed. The market may provide some further clues but without that information we will side with recent winner Senor Shane.
