In depth

Verdict

Glen's Diamond, a Group 3 winner at Chester last May, will have needed his return run three weeks ago and tries a new trip. Fox Hunt has no problems with the distance having landed the German St Leger in September before a superb effort in the Melbourne Cup. He's a classy performer and by no means badly treated. It's hard what to make of the Argentine import Astral Thunder but at least he stays the trip as does Manjakani, who should be on the boil after a couple of fair efforts over shorter. AVERROES was around 3l behind Fox Hunt at Royal Ascot in June and meets him on the same terms despite scoring easily twice subsequently. He easily won a non-carnival handicap over the C&D on New Year's Eve and his guaranteed fitness may just see him home.
