In depth

Verdict

Chookie Royale, Kingscroft and Clockmaker all step up in class after registering improved efforts on their latest starts and Fieldgunner Kirkup has decent claims if the rains arrive. At the other end of the handicap, Set The Trend, Marcret and Beacon Lodge were all well beaten in the same Listed race at York last month but the former is preferred in this back over a shorter trip and 5lb lower than when third at Thirsk in April. GANDALAK has been tried over a couple of different trips since scoring over course and distance in May. David O'Meara's charge won by nearly five lengths on that occasion and with an apprentice's allowance helping his cause today, he can return to winning ways.
