In depth

Verdict

Elm Grove would probably be chasing a four-timer but for an unlucky run behind ALONG THE SHORE (NAP) at Limerick last season before gaining compensation in very impressive fashion at Gowran. However, he been hit hard by the assessor with a massive 16lb rise which should hand the initiative back to Aidan O'Brien's charge. The pair met on level terms at Limerick and with Ana O'Brien's claim taken into account the winner will be a stone better off so is difficult to oppose. Prussian Eagle had been racing over timber before an excellent return to the Flat when runner-up to the in-form Oiche Mhaithe Boy at Gowran so he's capable of a big run. Captainofthefleet was in excellent form over hurdles at this time a year ago and ran a cracking race over timber at Cork last month but New Direction was a bitter disappointment when well supported in Elm Grove's race at Gowran. Not A Bad Oul Day was unfortunate not to finish closer at Leopardstown though that was over a mile and this is a big step up in trip.
