A tough apprentice handicap gets proceedings underway and from a shortlist of HATCH A PLAN, King Of The Beers and Horseshoe Reef we will side with Hatch A Plan. The selection did not get the run of the race at Bath last time when he got stuck in a pocket, but prior to that he had won well at the same venue. He is stepped up slightly in trip which will not be a problem and with conditions to suit and a decent apprentice on board he makes plenty of appeal. King Of The Beers has got some decent form on the all-weather but he has yet to be even placed on the turf and he arrives here on the back of a woeful effort at Bath earlier in the month when he finished well behind our selection. Jeremy Gask has his string in good form at present so Horseshoe Reef is another worth considering. He has shaped with promise on the all-weather and he has shown some decent form in Australia and he is one to note in the market. Arab League wasn't beaten far last time and he is unexposed so he is another to enter calculations, but Hatch A Plan makes more appeal and gets the vote.
