In depth

Verdict

Although he will only travel around twenty miles on his round trip to Newbury, The Last Cast can make the journey worthwhile and Hugh Morrison's charge is selected over Vanormix, who has obvious claims after winning at Taunton in January, and Hot Produxion, who is still lightly raced over hurdles and could have a little bit more to offer. The same sentiments apply to Caribbean Cove, who ran a cracker at Haydock last time and should be considered for at least a place if money arrives to support his claims today. Legal Lunch also has to be placed high on the list of alternatives as he is in the form of his life at the moment. But he takes a step up in class today and has a little to prove at this level. In contrast to The Last Cast, who landed the valuable Steel Plate Juvenile Hurdle last season and has gone well in better company since. The step up in trip is off-set by the ease in grade for The Last Cast today and he is yet another runner on the card who could make a quick reappearance at Prestbury Park in a fortnight.
