Verdict

Another fascinating contest which should provide plenty of pointers for the months ahead. Nicky Henderson has saddled three of the last six winners and relies this year on Buveur D'air, The Crillon gelding ran the very smart Barters Hill to less than a length in a Listed bumper here in February but was beaten further by the same horse at Aintree later. WAIT FOR ME (NAP) was third in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham in March on just his second career start. He'd won impressively at Ascot on debut, when West Approach was fourth, and is a potentially useful recruit to hurdles. Plenty of the others also have scope, however, including Chepstow runner-up Alibi De Sivola, dual bumper winner Bun Doran and Dashing Oscar, who was only beaten a short-head at Bangor last month by a race-fit rival. His trainer, Harry Fry, also runs well-bred newcomer Behind Time.
