In depth

Verdict

Dursey Island is another strong contender for Hughes and Hannon after putting a dreadful first run of the campaign well and truly behind him when runner-up at the Chester Cup meeting. He should find a maiden on that evidence but there are plenty of others who also take the eye. Fastnet Red looks a likely improver for John Gosden on the back of a reasonable Windsor debut although the form of Igider's first run when fourth at Newmarket this month looks stronger. Jonny Rae and Kings Fete are the newcomers to note whilst Yaakooum is not ruled out despite looking the Hannon second string. SECOND STEP is the most attractive option having posted a debut replete with promise at Yarmouth's usually informative back-end meeting last October when runner-up to Mannaro, with Wrangler, already a winner of two starts this term, back in third. The progeny of Dalakhani regularly improve at three and the Cumani inmate can score before going on to better things.
