Verdict

Oberlin edges the verdict from Hyper Viper and Redford, while Al Mogeer - a well-bred type - is introduced at a very modest level and could easily figure prominently if Kevin Ryan has him tuned up for his racecourse debut. A half-brother to the useful Real Delight, the last named could be the surprise package of the race and is one to bear in mind for the future whatever happens. Redford showed a good level of progression last time out and is obviously getting the hang of things. It may take him a little while to fill his frame but he has time on his side and can pay his way before too long. Hyper Viper has improved since being stepped up to a mile and comes here on the back of a couple of solid efforts. He can make a good fist of things and looks sure to run his race in this company. However, Oberlin has far more scope for improvement and, having caught the eye in a narrow defeat at Wolverhampton 11 days ago, the Mark Johnston-trained colt is fancied to step up to the plate when it really matters.
