Nonrunner

In depth

Verdict

Don McCain's GLENWOOD KNIGHT won well on good to soft ground at Exeter last month, handles ground as testing as he encounters today and is hard to oppose in a race where the main dangers look to be Pegasus Prince and Luso's Lad. Howard Johnson's gelding ran better than expected here last time when he was sent off at odds of 66/1 for a novices' hurdle, losing no caste in defeat in finishing a highly creditable fourth of 10 behind Bygones Of Brid in a race that has worked out well. He makes much more appeal than Sandman, who showed only limited mounts of ability in six outings abroad and now makes his debut for William Amos. Glaced Over has been well beaten in all four starts in bumpers and a bigger threat is likely to come from John Wade's Pegasus Prince, who has been running consistently well in recent starts on the flat and over hurdles. He needs to improve, as do the other runners in the race, to get the better of Glenwood Knight though and Don McCain's gelding is the one they all have to beat.
