    In depth

    Verdict

Another tricky event but it should once again pay to stick with those drawn on the far side and Blackheath is just preferred. The David Nicholls-trained gelding showed the benefit of a previous outing when a comfortable winner of a minor event at Folkestone last week. The son of Common Grounds has to defy a 7lb penalty but won with a little in hand and will relish the fast conditions so looks worth following in his current form. Mizhar was given a peach of a ride to score at Pontefract last time but that was a weak affair and much more is required at this level. Paul Blockley has made an excellent start to the campaign and recent all-weather winner Lucayan Monarch has to be respected while the lightly raced Fair Shake is just 4lb higher for his win here last month and could prove suited by the extra furlong. Arogant Prince has been knocking on the door and is another for the short list while College Maid is capable of going close on her best form.
