In depth

Formwatch

Astonished Only blemishes this season came at Chester (recently) and most importantly at Newmarket earlier in the season; in good heart however and should make a bold bid.

The Trader (IRE) Much improved of late and goes on most surfaces; has the ability to land this and should go well.

Afaan (IRE) Has not been running up to form of late and best watched today although has shown a liking for this track.

Candleriggs (IRE) Has been running well without winning in most of the big handicaps; best run this season came in a smallish field so could go well here.

Ellens Lad (IRE) Has won on soft but looked out of sorts at Ascot on Sunday; best watched on this occasion.

Indian Prince (IRE) Not been putting his best foot forward of late and likely to be outpaced by many of these.

Rasoum (USA) Step down in trip is a bold move but slight cause of concern; will handle any cut but may not have the pace to land this.

Smokin Beau Credit to his trainer, running consistently well over both 5f and 6f; goes well for this jockey and should put up a decent run.

Watching Has not rediscovered the form that saw him finish just behind Nuclear Debate at York last season; only British run was a poor effort over this course and distance in May; form on his travels has been patchy.

Monnavanna (IRE) If coping with this step down in trip then would have every chance but soft ground is a worry.

Summerhill Parkes Ran as though something amiss when adrift in Ayr Gold Cup last time out but had previously shown high cruising speed at Haydock; likely to go close without winning.

Vita Spericolata (IRE) Not seen to his best on a soft surface and Sunday's run was very poor; best watched.

Cyclone Connie Would be an amazing training performance if this was to win; ran two good runs last season but even those efforts were below what should be required here.
