There are 30 runners in this so get your needle out, although by now we may have gleaned something about the draw advantage from the 2,000 Guineas. Anyway, in the guessing game of this cavalry charge, we will side with Idle Power ahead of Ice Planet and The Kiddykid. The case for Idle Power is built on the fact that he now races from a very competitive mark and he caught the eye staying on late at Epsom last time. Turning to the others and The Kiddykid has enough natural talent to go well in this type of event, while Firenze registered a Listed race success on her last start last season and could well have better to come this time around. Indian Trail is not far away from a winning mark, neither is Woodcote, while Burning Incense is very much on the upgrade, as evidenced by his good second to a progressive performer at Ascot when last seen last season. Ripples Maid holds place claims from her current rating, while Fictional is back to a 2005 winning mark. You couldn't rule Ice Planet out of a place as he was second in this race last season from a pound lower mark, Charles Darwin has been rattling the bar from around his current rating, Beaver Patrol has dropped to a competitive rating, and Bahiano can be considered based on his third in this race last year from a ten pounds higher mark. Finally, Wyatt Earp is closely weighted with Ice Planet based on their first and second placings in a valuable York handicap last season, so he is respected, Green Park is one that could go well at a big price, Hoh Hoh Hoh would have needed his latest run and is capable of winning races from his current mark, and a placing for Secret Night would not be a shock. In a race, then, where many of the others need improved performances or need to register career-best efforts if they are to score, we will side with Idle Power as the selection.
