Verdict

Perhaps not the strongest renewal of this prestigious prize and Hold To Ransom appeals most ahead of Macadamia, Waldmark and Buy The Sport. Ed Dunlop's filly has taken time to come to herself this term but possibly failed to stay ten furlongs in the Musidora and showed her true colours when a highly impressive five-length winner of a valuable one-mile handicap at Royal Ascot last month. The daughter of Red Ransom travelled well throughout before bursting clear in the closing stages despite carrying top weight off a mark of 105 which strongly suggests that the return to Pattern company should hold no terrors. Macadamia is an improving mare, who bids to complete a hat-trick following a Listed win at Pontefract as well as a game performance to lift last month's Royal Hunt Cup success. However, she still has something to find with the selection and may have to settle for minor honours. Buy The Sport finished in front of Hold To Ransom at York and has strong claims on a two-length success over Membership at Lingfield earlier in the year. Waldmark ran as though something was amiss in the Oaks and is better judged on an earlier second in a Newbury Listed event in May but could frind this on the sharp side so Hold To Ransom looks the one to beat.
