In depth

Verdict

An ordinary novice contest that can be lit up by Alva Glen, who is by the same sire as Nayef, and can take this from April Treasure and Harry's Ace. Alva Glen remains an entire at five and comes here after unseating at the first hurdle on his Newton Abbot jumping debut. Rated as high as 110 on the flat, this thorough stayer should have absolutely no problems getting the trip and will relish the ground, so provided he jumps round this time then he should be waving them all goodbye a long way from home. April Treasure would not possess nearly enough speed to test the selection at his best, but jumping hurdles has a funny habit of unsettling some horses and if Alva Glen has any problems in that regard, then this mare can benefit. Good enough to attain a rating of 74 at best over hurdles, April Treasure is a bit one paced but no back number in this contest and can make the frame. Of the remainder, Harry's Ace is definitely worth considering for each way punters. A hurdling debutante, the gelding has improved for each of three bumper outings and has been given a short break since the last of those. Likely to be well schooled by Merrita Jones, he can claim some prize money at the first time of asking over timber. No doubt about the selection though, that has to be Alva Glen.
