Verdict

Henry Cecil's Monson colt MIDSUMMER SUN is a half-brother to the top-class Midday. He would be very interesting if attracting market support as his trainer has a good record on this track with debutants. Alkimos is another well-bred newcomer but a few of these showed enough on debut last season to suggest they'll be worth following this term. Elrasheed came up against the mighty Frankel here in August, while Ocean War was beaten less than two lengths when fifth at Sandown last July. Dream Achieved pulled too hard to do himself justice on his first start at Ascot and is capable of better while stable companion Maqaraat, who was slowly away over 7f here last October and then ran green, should stay further in time.
